Product FAQ
Can this sensor detect fully transparent labels on clear plastic backing (Clear-on-Clear labels)?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike traditional optical sensors that rely on light transmission and often fail when dealing with transparent materials, the FGU07-100 utilizes advanced differential capacitive sensing technology. It detects labels by measuring the microscopic thickness/dielectric variance between the label and the liner backing. Whether your labels are clear film, clear plastic, matte, or opaque paper, this sensor will deliver flawless edge detection without blind spots.
According to the specifications, this sensor excludes metallic materials. What should I do if I have metallic or foil labels?
Since capacitive sensors are highly sensitive to the electrical conductivity of metals, the FGU07-100 is designed specifically for non-metallic labels (such as paper, PVC, PE, and clear films). If your production line primarily runs metallic foil labels, metalized film, or high-conductivity materials, we highly recommend checking out our Ultrasonic Label Sensor series. Ultrasonic sensors rely on sound wave density rather than electrical capacitance, making them the industry standard for metallic label detection.
My factory’s PLC system uses PNP logic, but some of our older backup machines require NPN. Will this sensor work for both?
Yes, it is fully universal. The FGU07-100 features a smart Dual-way Output design (NPN and PNP combined). Inside the standard 4-pin M8 connector, both NPN and PNP signal lines are wired independently and output simultaneously.
If your PLC requires PNP, simply connect the White wire.
If it requires NPN, connect the Black wire.
